Being straight with you

What this does, and what it deliberately does not.

Plenty of free PDF signers imply the result is legally bulletproof. It is not, and neither is this one. Here is exactly where the line sits.

What it does

  • Adds your signature image to the exact spot you chose, at the size you chose.
  • Keeps the original page content, text and dimensions intact — nothing is flattened to a picture.
  • Handles pages that are rotated or in mixed orientations.
  • Works with the network disconnected, once the page has loaded.

What it does not

  • It does not apply a digital certificate, so the file carries no cryptographic proof of who signed it.
  • It does not produce an audit trail — there is no record of when the signature was applied, or by whom.
  • It does not do Aadhaar eSign. That has to be performed by a licensed eSign Service Provider.
  • It does not send the document to anyone else for signature. Nothing here leaves your device, which also means nothing here reaches a counterparty.

If the document could ever be disputed, the thing that matters is the evidence around the signature, not the picture of it. What an audit trail has to contain goes through what that evidence looks like, and eSignature legality in India covers which documents can be signed electronically at all.

Questions.

Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The page reads the file directly from your device, renders it, writes your signature into a copy, and hands that copy back to your browser to save. Nothing is sent to Accordsign or to any other server. You can disconnect from the network after the page loads and the tool still works, which is the simplest way to satisfy yourself that this is true.
Is a PDF signed this way legally binding?
It depends on what the document is and what the parties expect, and this tool gives you the weakest form of it. Stamping an image adds no evidence about who applied the signature or when. In a dispute, that evidence is what gets examined. If the document is one that could ever be contested, send it for signature through a platform that records an audit trail instead.
Can I sign a document that someone sent me and send it back?
You can sign it here and email the signed file back. What you cannot do with this tool is prove when you signed it. If the other side needs that assurance, ask them to send it for signature properly — the signer never needs an account at their end.
Why will my password-protected PDF not open?
The tool does not ask for or handle PDF passwords. Remove the protection in the application that created the file, sign it here, and re-apply the protection afterwards if you need it.
Is there a page limit or a file-size limit?
No page limit. Files are capped at 25 MB, because the whole document is held in your browser’s memory while you work on it. Above that a desktop PDF application is a better fit.
